Gift Giving.

Today is Reina's birthday. Happy Birthday, Reina! And though I know she's going to read this and be like "WTH?" I have to admit, I have yet to get her a present. Not for not having thought about it, or having gone out and looked for that perfect present, but giving gifts is something I'm not terribly good at.

It takes a lot of thought to give a fantastic gift. At the very least, good listening skills will get you a halfway decent gift. I can think of a few things that she's mentioned over the past couple months that I could go out and get, no problem. But the great gift-giver gives the gift someone didn't even know they wanted, but loves the moment they open the package.

And that, friends. That is more difficult.

Cop-Out gifts include: Anything from Bath & Bodyworks, the single obsession (ie: Coca-cola stuff for Josh. Star Wars Legos or Buffy stuff for Ed). CDs. DVDs. If I get you any of these and you didn't specifically ask for them, know that I am copping out.

No, the right gift takes a lot of thought, and a little bit of luck.

Let's Play Good Gift, Bad Gift.

Birthday 18.
String of Certs Breath Mints Packages, Lisa.
Good Gift.
Star Wars Novel, Unnamed.
Bad Gift.

So while I think it may be too late for the fantastic, I'm off to, hopefully, get a good gift for Reina.

Wish me luck.

Update 2.

The smoke cleared a couple days ago. It looks like the fire's under control now, so I thought I'd do one last update. Everybody here is fine, the only person I know who lost their house was my friend's friend's brother. All in all, 16 civilians died, 2427 homes/businesses were lost. You've all seen the
photos.

I put a red dot where I live, those blocks on the left are supposed to be 5 miles. So the fire was pretty close, but I don't think it ever had much of a chance of getting to us.

Now that it's mostly over a lot of people have a lot of rebuilding to do. I'm glad I'm not one of them.
